Head of Technology

Reporting to the Chief Information Systems Officer, the successful candidate will be responsible for planning and directing work activities leading to the delivery, assurance and acceptance of IT projects and initiatives. 

The incumbent will be responsible for defining the scope and content of each project and articulating work deliverables and milestones within an established timeline. Head Technology will interface with stakeholders regarding the project scope, budget, milestones and deliverables to ensure timely delivery.

The selected candidate will be tasked to manage the overall project process, assure content delivery from internal stakeholders and third party resources while ensuring project expense control.

Key responsibilities include:

Business analysis. Interview product owners and business stakeholders and document the software application requirements. Review with product owners, confirming and clarifying needs, prioritised by business value.

Leadership. Provide direction, guidance and priority setting at project team level. Define business and technology outcomes and methods used to achieve project goals.

Verbal Presentation. Be able to compile and deliver presentations, reports and briefings.

Written presentation. Must oversee the business development document delivery process with primary responsibility to ensure content is relevant to the expected business technology and performance outcome. Be responsible to review and approve project documents, particularly those containing "go forward" recommendations.

Project Management. Demonstrate mastery of project management tools, techniques and methods. Assume responsibility for of a number of IT Projects, ensuring that they are delivered using industry standards and that all tasks are carried out efficiently and effectively in adherence to internal policies and procedures.

Supplier Management. Manage partners and third parties with whom the organisation has a business agreement for the delivery of IT related services.

Review. Plan and perform periodic system reviews to identify possible gaps and inconsistencies and propose required re-alignment to ensure that software applications and the overall IT infrastructure supports business continuity, growth and overall corporate objectives.

Testing, Planning and Execution. Lead the conversion of functional requirements into test plans. Assist the product owners in the execution of test plans prior to business software application deployment.

The successful candidate would:

  • Possess an ICT-Related Degree or higher;
  • Preferably have at least 3 years' experience in an IT software project management role;
  • Have a strong understanding of IT systems/networks, best practices and principles;
  • Possess strong project management skills. Agile or PRINCE certification will be considered an asset;
  • Have excellent client-facing, written and verbal communication skills;
  • Be a highly organised and an efficient multi-tasker who pays attention to detail;
  • Demonstrate an ability to lead multiple teams concurrently on different projects.
