I.T. System Administrator

A vacancy has arisen within the Information Systems Department for an IT Systems Administrator who will be responsible for managing the IT infrastructure, servers (physical and virtual), security systems and deliver related support to the various sections of the organisation.

The main responsibilities of the position include but are not limited to:

  • Maintaining current IT Systems, providing support and liaise with 3rd parties to resolve issues and sustain business continuity;
  • Ensuring security through access controls, backups and firewalls;
  • Server Maintenance and Configuration in both physical and virtual environments;
  • VoIP installation and maintenance;
  • End User Support, Network Printers Setup and Maintenance;
  • Active Directory Design, Setup and Maintenance;
  • Providing maintenance and support for desktops/laptops, telecommunications equipment, PABX, and CCTV;
  • Participating in the successful implementation of IT projects;
  • Provision of training and knowledge transfer to subordinates. 

Applicants shall have a clean police conduct certificate and ideally:

  • Possess strong communication (written and verbal) skills in both Maltese and English supported by certification at least up to MQF level 3;
  • Have a minimum of 3 years' experience in the IT industry, preferably in a logistics and retail environment;
  • Hold formal certification from either Microsoft, HP, Checkpoint or other IT industry leaders;
  • Have previous experience in IT system support on end-user devices, Microsoft server platforms, HP hardware platforms, Office 365, and corporate networking infrastructures including firewall/router configurations;
  • Be able to multitask, adapt to changes quickly and work to deadlines;
  • Be able to work under pressure and in a team environment;
  • Be able to drive and in possession of a valid driving licence.

The appointment is subject to a 12-month probationary period. Working hours are Monday to Friday from 07:30 to 16:00.
