MaltaPost Commemorates Two International Artists Who Painted Scenes of Malta and Gozo.

The Philatelic Bureau of MaltaPost p.l.c. will issue on 23 March 2012, a philatelic commemorative set of five stamps to commemorate two international renowned artists; Henry Mayo Bateman (1887 - 1970) and Edward Lear (1812 -1888) who both visited and painted scenes of Malta and Gozo.

The set of five stamps which are reproductions of the original artworks of the artists, feature views of Marsalforn, Qala, Għajnsielem, the Gran Fontana and the Inquisitor's Palace in the valley of Girgenti.

500,000 stamps carry a face value of €0.20, 60,000 stamps carry a face value of €0.67 and 40,000 stamps each with the following denominations; €0.26, €0.37 and €0.97. The stamps measure 44.0mm x 31.0mm with a perforation of 13.9 x 14.0 (comb). All stamps have been offset printed on Maltese Crosses watermarked paper by Printex Limited and are available in sheets of 10.
