MaltaPost Encourages the Public to Vote for Malta’s Stamp

EUROPA Stamp Contest. Malta's entry will compete with other stamps issued by European postal operators which are members of PostEurop; the association which represents the interest of European public postal operators.

This year's EUROPA competition is themed -"Postman Van" allowing postal operators from Europe to showcase their countries' postal vehicles. Designed by local artist Cedric Galea Pirotta, Malta's stamp is featuring the Ford Transit Mark 1 as it drives up to Merchant's Street, Valletta, in front of the Old General Post Office that was housed in the Auberge d'Italie. This vehicle was used for the transportation of mailbags up until the end of the 20th century.

Maltese stamps are renowned around the world for their unique depiction of a wide variety of popular historical themes. For this year's EUROPA stamp issue, MaltaPost has taken a nostalgic look at postal vans from yesteryear. Keeping this in mind, MaltaPost is encouraging the general public to vote for the Maltese Stamp.

The best EUROPA stamp will be voted for by web viewers. Everyone is invited to vote for the Malta Stamp on http://www.posteurop.org/europa2013. Votes are open until 31 August.
