MaltaPost to Launch the Christmas 2013 Stamp Set

On 18 November 2013, MaltaPost will issue the Christmas 2013 stamp set which consists of a miniature sheet bearing two stamps and a set of three stamps depicting three prominent scenes from the mechanical nativity crib found at the Jesus of Nazareth Institute in Żejtun. The crib was inaugurated in 1947 and is the work of Paul Pavia while the Institute's nuns sewed the robes for each figure. Following this, year upon year, the crib underwent improvement works until it achieved its present form.

The stamps in the miniature sheet have face value of €1.00 each and the other three stamps have face value of €0.26, €0.37 and €0.63. The Set "Christmas 2013" was designed in-house by MaltaPost. The stamps will be issued in sheets of 10 and in a miniature sheet. The measurements of the stamps are 20mm x 76 mm and 20mm x 38mm, while the measurements of the miniature sheets are 105mm x 68mm with perforation of 13.6 x 14.0 (comb.) bearing the Maltese Cross watermark. Printex Ltd will print 20,000 miniature sheets with face value of €2.00 each, 1,600,000 of the €0.26 stamp, 150,000 of the €0.37 stamps and 80,000 of the €0.63 stamp.

The set ‘Christmas 2013' will be available as from Monday 18 November 2013 from all Post Offices in Malta and Gozo.
