On the 24th of November 2020, MaltaPost will issue a set of 3 stamps depicting a painting by Giuseppe Calì of ‘The Nativity`. The fresco was executed in the late 19th century on the ceiling of the dome of ‘Christ the Saviour' Parish Church in Lija.
This masterpiece embellishes the dome of the church with beautiful episodes from the Nativity event as detailed in the Bible; from the announcement of the angel to the birth of Jesus. This painting dates back to the 19th century and has recently undergone a restoration project that lasted for years. The stamps show the angel's announcement of baby Jesus to the shepherds and the wise kings, and baby Jesus in the hands of Mary surrounded by St. Joseph and the angels.
This set will be issued in sheets of 10 stamps, with each stamp measuring 44mm x 31mm, a comb perforation 14.0 x 13.9 and bearing the Maltese Cross watermark. The sheets measures 118mm x 185mm and were produced by Printex Ltd in the offset process. The issue consists of 500,000 of the €0.30 stamp, 24,000 of the €0.59 stamp and 24,000 of the €0.63 stamp. The design was set by Miguel Farrugia of MaltaPost and photographs were taken by David P. Attard.

Dan il-kapolavur ta' Giuseppe Calì li qed jsebbaħ din il-koppla juri episodji mill-ġrajja tan-Natività kif hija dettaljata fil-Bibbja; mit-tħabbira tal-anġlu sat-twelid ta' Ġesu. Din il-pittura tmur lura lejn is-seklu 19 u riċentament għaddiet minn proġett ta' restawr li dam għaddej snin sħaħ. Il-bolli juru propju t-tħabbira tat-twelid ta' Ġesu bambin mill-anġlu lir-rgħajja, lis-slaten maġi kif ukoll Ġesu Bambin f'idejn il-Madonna mdawwra b'San Ġużepp u l-anġli.
