Commemorating the 70th Anniversary of the United Nations

On 24 October 2015, MaltaPost will issue a miniature sheet bearing one stamp with a face value of €3.51. The stamp will feature the UN70 motif that is the official logo for the 70th Anniversary of the United Nations, against a background of flags of the UN member states.

The United Nations (UN) was founded in 1945 bringing together different countries in an effort to achieve world peace and prosperity and it now includes 193 member states. The work of the UN reaches every corner of the world and has a number of objectives which include that to keep peace throughout the world; to develop friendly relations among nations; to help nations work together so as to improve the lives of poor people; to conquer hunger, disease and illiteracy and to encourage respect for each other's rights and freedom. Overall it seeks to harmonise the actions of nations so as to achieve these goals.

The stamp measures 35mm x 35mm, with a perforation of 13.75 x 13.75 (comb.) bearing the Maltese Cross watermark while the sheet measures 120mm x 80mm. Printex Limited printed 20,000 miniature sheets in the offset process.
